Youtube and others to pay for content

The idea of paying Users for their ‘User Generated Content’ is starting to pick up. No one disagrees that Youtube would be worth nothing without its User Generated Content… yes the Users didn’t get any benefits from the sale of Youtube.

Word is out that Youtube and a other video content sites (break.com) are starting to look at models for paying the content contributors. My questions are how and how much. The above link states that Break.com is looking at paying $400 per video.

I think a fairer model would include paying the contributors proportionally to the success of a particular piece of content.
